KEATON WAGLER EARNS LUTE OLSON AWARD NATIONAL PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS
BOSTON, MA -- Illinois’ Keaton Wagler has been named the Lute Olson award National Player of the Week. The 6-foot-6 freshman helped the Illini to a pair of conference wins last week.
Wagler averaged 29.5 points in the two victories, capped off by a 46-point performance on Saturday at No. 4 Purdue. He finished 13-for-17 from the field, including 9-for-11 from three-point range. Earlier in the week Wagler had 17 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds against Maryland.
The Lute Olson award is presented annually to the top player in division I college basketball. The award voting panel is made up of current division I coaches, athletic administrators, and senior College Insider staff members.
