SIMS EDWARDS NAMED MID-MAJOR DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF YEAR

ATLANTA, GA -- Bradley's Dyricus Sims Edwards has been named the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Defensive Player of the Year for the 2012-13 season.

Previously selected the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Simms-Edwards led The Valley in steals and ranked among the national leaders all season, ultimately setting the single-season school mark with 86 thefts. The fifth-best single-season total in MVC history, Simms-Edwards also led the nation in steals per personal foul (1.83) during the regular season and was fourth in steals per turnover (1.58). His eight steals Dec. 29 against Drake were the most by a Valley player since the 2005-06 campaign and was the second-best single-game total in league and school history.

Simms-Edwards’ play helped set the tone for a Bradley squad that enjoyed one of the best turnaround seasons in the country during the 2012-13 campaign. The Braves improved their win total by 11 from the 2011-12 season, finishing the year with an 18-17 overall record after advancing to the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
