Last season Hunt helped guide UM to an 18-16 record which included wins over two ranked teams, the Hurricanes first win over North Carolina in Chapel Hill, the school's first ACC Tournament win, and a second consecutive post season appearance.

Miami won two games in the 2006 NIT defeating Oklahoma State at the BankUnited Center, the first NIT game hosted by the University of Miami, and a road win against Creighton marking the Hurricanes first NIT road win.

In his first season Hunt helped the Hurricanes record one of the nation's most surprising turnarounds. Miami, which was picked to finish last in the ACC, posted a 16-13 overall record including seven league wins, three wins over ranked opponents and a berth in the National Invitation Tournament.

Prior to joining the UM coaching staff, Hunt spent three seasons as the head coach at Towson University. During his tenure he guided the Tigers to a 23-63 record. His 11-18 record during his inaugural season marked the best record by a Towson coach in his first season.

That season the Tigers finished in a tie for sixth in the Colonial Athletic Conference despite being picked to finish last in the preseason poll, and ended long losing streaks Drexel (15 games), Delaware (12 games) and Hofstra (11 games). In 2002-03 Hunt led Towson to its first CAA conference tournament victory with a 70-65 win over William and Mary.

Prior to taking over at Towson, Hunt served four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Georgia where he helped put together a top-five recruiting class in 1998. During his tenure at Georgia he help guide the Bulldogs to a National Invitational Tournament appearance in 1998 and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2001.

Hunt was an assistant at the University of Tennessee from 1994-97. In his three seasons in Knoxville Hunt was instrumental in rebuilding the Volunteer program assisting in the recruiting of three straight top-20 recruiting classes. Two of those classes were ranked among the top-10 nationally while one class was ranked among the top-five in the nation.

Hunt also served on the coaching staffs at Fordham University (1992-94) and Towson State University (1988-92). While an assistant at Towson, Hunt helped guide the Tigers to a 73-47 record, three consecutive East Coast Conference Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 1990 and 1991.

Hunt began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at Florida State University from 1986-88. During his two seasons in Tallahassee the Seminoles registered a 38-22 record including an NIT and NCAA Tournament appearance.

Hunt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University in 1985. He received a Master of Science in Athletic Administration from Florida State University in 1988.
