3 Best Moments in UCLA Bruins History

UCLA Bruins, which represents the University of California, is the most successful college basketball team, having won the NCAA title for a record 11 times. They can also boast of 18 Final Fours, 4 perfect seasons and an 88- game winning streak.

If you think that the Bruins have a good chance to win the next title, then click here and you can get an amazing reward for guessing correctly.

1- 88-Game Winning Streak of UCLA

In college basketball history, no team has achieved a feat quite like UCLA's 88-game winning streak. They were unstoppable from 1971 to 1973 and were playing on another level from all the other teams.

Their most successful coach John Wooden was leading and inspiring them. And they won back-to-back undefeated seasons during the 1971-72 and 1972-73 seasons. No team could challenge them and they went on to make the most incredible streak in college basketball.

After winning 88 games, their amazing run came to an end at the hands of Notre Dame. It was a shocking result that saw the Irish winning the game 71-70 after trailing 11 with three and half minutes remain. To this day, no team has come close to breaking this great record.

2- UCLA proved that they could win without John Wooden

John Woodenis the most successful coach in the history of college basketball. As head coach at UCLA, he won an incredible 10 titles, including 7 titles in a row. But after his retirement in 1975, UCLA struggled to maintain their successes.

Coach Jim Harrick restored the Bruins to the top in 1995 and won them their 11th National Championship. The team had one of the most dominant seasons in their history and possessed stars like Ed O'Bannon and Tyus Edney. They defeated Arkansas 89-78 in the final and went 32-1 in the season. With this victory, the Bruins proved that they could win the championship title without John Wooden.

3- UCLA's record seven straight titles

In college basketball, you can't find a feat more impressive than the Bruins' 7 consecutive championships. They completely dominated the NCAA tournament for seven years, and during this period, no-body doubted who would win the title.

In the present times, it seems almost impossible that a team could dominate for such an extended period. For the last ten years, no team has even won 2 consecutive titles, and the last time it happened was back in 2007 when Florida Gators named two titles in two years.
