Today I was informed by the Administration of Morehead State
University that they are looking to go in a different direction
with the Men’s Basketball Program. Therefore, I am submitting my
resignation. I leave with great pride in what I have been able
to accomplish at a school that only verbally supports their
sports programs. Those in charge have unrealistic expectations
of success considering the lack of funds budgeted. In spite of
their lack of commitment, I was able to accomplish many things.
Some of these accomplishments include:
Finishing
in 3rd place twice, 2nd once, and winning the Ohio Valley
Conference
In a school that has only had 6 winning seasons since
1984, I had 3.
Building a new basketball weight room.
Building new Men’s basketball offices
Refurbishing the Men’s basketball locker room
Fund raising over 2 million dollars for the University
while at the same time
always being one of the least paid coaches in the OVC.
I feel I am leaving this program in much better shape than when
I arrived!
While the overall record over the past nine years is not
positive, one must
consider the circumstance of the job. If you throw out my first
year record
when players from the previous staff had to be used, and this
past year, when
unexpected circumstances dictated that newly recruited players
that were
expected to grow and develop within the program, were thrust
into major playing
time, it accounts for 40 games lost. Then add the usual 3
guaranteed games each
year. That is another 27 games. Flip those to the win column and
the overall
record is very different! These are not excuses, only an
explanation. More
importantly, all but one of my players that made it to his
senior year has
graduated and that one is playing professional basketball.
In leaving I would like to personally thank the community and
sponsors for all
there loyal support. My family and I have enjoyed being a part
of the Morehead
community and have made many good friends while here. I leave
knowing I was
dedicated, loyal and did everything I could to bring respect
back to this
program. I believe I accomplished this.

One of the
intrigues of window-shopping is that you never know what you are going
to find. Window Shopping at Macy’s will provide much of the same
for fans. It may not always supply the high-end merchandise that the
more familiar Macy’s lays out for its visitors, but it will provide
insight with a little entertainment value. Former University of Kentucky
All-American and current Morehead State coach, Kyle Macy and many of his
coaching peers provide insight and analysis into all things college
basketball related.
