Tom Parrotta is in his fifth year as a member of the Hofstra University Basketball coaching staff and his first as associate head coach. Parrotta joined the Pride staff in 2001 after a six-year stint (1995-2001) as an assistant coach at Niagara University, including the last three as the Purple Eagle's top assistant.

As Hofstra's top assistant, Parrotta, a former Fordham standout, serves as recruiting, scouting and scheduling coordinator for the Pride. He is also responsible for offensive execution and the development of the Hofstra forwards.

During his time at Niagara the Purple Eagles posted a 49-37 record and made two trips to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) semifinals. As the lead assistant, Parrotta was the chief recruiter and scheduling coordinator for the Purple Eagles.

Before joining the Niagara staff, Parrotta served as an assistant coach at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, during the 1994-95 season. Prior to Nazareth, Parrotta served as the varsity coach at Rye High School in Rye, New York, and led his team to the PSAL Class C league championship. The following year he served as junior varsity coach at Mamaroneck High School in Mamaroneck, New York.

A graduate of Fordham University with a degree in communications, Parrotta was a four-year member of the Rams basketball program. He is ranked in the top 30 in scoring all-time at Fordham, as well as in the top 10 all-time in rebounding. A two-year captain, he was selected to the All-MAAC second team as a senior and helped his team to two NIT appearances. He was also named to the All-Metropolitan New York team and was team Most Valuable Player as a senior.

After leaving Fordham, Parrotta embarked on a three-year professional career in the Portuguese Basketball Association. In his first year as a professional, Parrotta led his team in scoring and rebounding on the way to an unprecedented 33-0 record and Second Division championship. When his professional career ended in 1991, Parrotta joined the Schering Corporation in Kenilworth, New Jersey as a pharmaceutical sales representative until beginning his coaching career at Rye.

Parrotta currently resides in East Meadow, New York with his wife Dina and children Michael Nicholas (3) and newborn Carmen Giovanna.
