Richard Pitino is in his first season as an
assistant coach under Ron Everhart. Pitino comes to
Northeastern from the College of Charleston where he
served as an administrative assistant on Head Coach
Tom Herrion’s staff.
While an undergraduate Providence College, Pitino
spent two seasons as a manager of the Friars’ men’s
basketball team. In his junior year, Providence
earned its 15th trip to the NCAA Tournament as a
five seed and was ranked as high as 12th in the
Associated Press poll during the regular season.
Pitino also served as an assistant coach at Saint
Andrew’s School in Barrington, R.I. for two years.
In his first season, the team finished the year
ranked 25th in the nation by USA Today and won the
New England Prep School Championship.
The son of Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino,
Richard graduated from Providence College In 2005
with a degree in history. |
