Fred Dupree begins his fifth season as an assistant
coach at Rider. Dupree came to Rider prior to the
2001-02 season, and helped the Broncs win their
first MAAC regular season title.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Dupree is a 1998 graduate
of Canisius College and has coached at the
University at Albany and University at Stony Brook
before coming to Rider.
Dupree serves as Rider's recruiting coordinator with
an emphasis on the Metropolitan area. He also plays
a vital role in game and practice preparation,
scouting of opponents, academic support, and the
overall development of the Broncs' post players
during the season and off-season workouts.
"Fred does a terrific job with our inside players
and has been instrumental in the overall success of
Rider Basketball, both on the court and on the
recruiting trails,” said Interim Director of
Athletics Don Harnum. “Having been a player and now
a coach in the MAAC, Fred has a tremendous
perspective on what it takes for Rider to be
successful in this league.
At Canisius, Dupree was a member of the Golden
Griffins 1995 squad that reached the finals of the
National Invitation Tournament and the 1996 team
that played Utah in the NCAA tournament. Dupree
served as team captain as a senior.
Dupree coached two years at St. Thomas Prep in
Connecticut, before serving as an administrative
assistant at Stony Brook. |
