Starting his second season on the staff of Greg
Kampe is Devon Smith. Prior to joining the staff at
Oakland, Smith worked for ESPN Regional television.
Bringing Big 10 experience to the staff, Smith spent
the 2002-03 season as the administrative assistant
for the men’s basketball team at Ohio State, his
alma mater. He has also served as an assistant coach
at St. Peter’s College in New Jersey and as a
basketball analyst for Fox Sports. Named by
HoopScoop.com as “one of the up and coming guys in
the business.”
Smith is a 2000 graduate of Ohio State with a degree
in communications. While at OSU he was a member of
the 1999 squad that made the NCAA Final Four and the
2000 squad that won the Big 10 championship.
As a prep he attended Fork Union Military Academy
where he was a part of the team that won the
mythical national championship in 1995 with a 25-4
record. |
