Brian Loyd is in his fourth year with the Oregon State University men’s basketball program and is in his 13th season overall as a coach.

The 37-year old Loyd came to OSU after serving as the director of basketball operations at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He coordinated team travel, prepared budgets and oversaw the administrative operations of the office for the Minutemen.

Prior to his move to UMass, Loyd spent two seasons at Portland State University (1999-2000 and 2000-01) of the Big Sky Conference, four seasons at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (1996-99) and two years at Queens College (1993-94 and 1994-95) in North Carolina.

Loyd played college basketball at the University of Tulsa, where he was a four-year letterman (1987-90). He was a member of the Missouri Valley Conference All-Academic first team as a senior. Loyd was also named the Golden Hurricane’s top defensive player his senior year and left the program as one of its top three-point field goal shooters.

The Indianapolis native received his bachelor’s degree from Tulsa in 1991 as a double major in sociology and communication with a concentration in broadcasting. He spent two years at Tulsa after graduation as an admissions counselor.
