Brian Loyd is in his fourth year with the Oregon
State University men’s basketball program and is in
his 13th season overall as a coach.
The 37-year old Loyd came to OSU after serving as
the director of basketball operations at the
University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He
coordinated team travel, prepared budgets and
oversaw the administrative operations of the office
for the Minutemen.
Prior to his move to UMass, Loyd spent two seasons
at Portland State University (1999-2000 and 2000-01)
of the Big Sky Conference, four seasons at Cal Poly
San Luis Obispo (1996-99) and two years at Queens
College (1993-94 and 1994-95) in North Carolina.
Loyd played college basketball at the University of
Tulsa, where he was a four-year letterman (1987-90).
He was a member of the Missouri Valley Conference
All-Academic first team as a senior. Loyd was also
named the Golden Hurricane’s top defensive player
his senior year and left the program as one of its
top three-point field goal shooters.
The Indianapolis native received his bachelor’s
degree from Tulsa in 1991 as a double major in
sociology and communication with a concentration in
broadcasting. He spent two years at Tulsa after
graduation as an admissions counselor. |
