LOU HENSON AWARD "PLAYER OF THE WEEK" HONORS

BOSTON (MA) -- Army's Ella Ellis earns Lou Henson award national player of the week honors.

The 6-foot-7 senior closed out the regular season with consecutive 30-point games, scoring 31 in a 69-62 win over Holy Cross on Wednesday and 30 in an 81-75 loss to Lehigh on Saturday. He shot 18-of-37 from the field, 8-of-19 from three-point range and 17-of-20 at the line for the week, including a 13-of-13 effort at the charity stripe in the win over Holy Cross.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball.

The award is named in honor of Lou Henson who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.
