Stop all the talk about the International players being more
"fundamentally-sound" then the American players. Last I checked, among
rookies, 16 of the top 20 scorers are from the U.S. and only
Francisco Elson, comes close to stacking up against the U.S.
rooks, and he's 26 years old and was drafted back in the 90's.
I'll take Bron', Melo', Chris Bosh, Dwayne
Wade, T.J. Ford and Jarvis Hayes against any young
international stars any night. These players are very skilled. They
possess great footwork; they are leaders and are very unselfish. Look
at the U.S. teams in summer competition in the past and the rosters
never have the best available players participating. BTW, has Darko
scored his first basket yet?
Josh Boone from Uconn got the Antonio Bandaras look
going.
Good luck to Coach Croom at Mississippi State.
Marshall's Ron Jirsa is going to get it done for the T-Herd'.
Speaking of getting it done, how about TCU's Neil Dougherty?
He's got the fans juiced and his players playing hard.
Marquette's Scott Merritt reminds me of Brad Daugherty.
Anthony Richardson from Florida State is big time! Noles' are
6-0.
Can someone tell me the starting line-up for the Coast Guard
men's hoops team?
Good to see Antonio McDyess back in the Knickerbockers line-up.
JYD, John Paxson and Scott Skiles are going to
make a difference in the Windy City. Skiles is a fine coach and the
players are going to have to listen to him and do things his way or
they'll be sent packing.
I'd like to take Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson with me to
Vegas for some heavy gambling.
I love Kirk Hinrich and his game but for some strange reason,
he doesn't look right in the Converse commercial. You know the one,
where he's rolling down the street in a Cadillac Escalade.
Can J.J. Reddick shoot the "pill" or what?
Speaking of the Dookies, Leoul Deng reminds me of former St.
John's Redman, Felipe Lopez.
Boy-O-Boy, what happened with the Michigan State Spartans
when the boyz from Durham arrived in town? Duke played great
defense and played so much harder then the Spartans. By the way, I
watched the whole 40 minutes with my tube on "mute".
Injuries are killing teams. Arizona has lost Isiah Fox,
Michigan State's Brandon Cotton is out and Kansas lost
Michael Lee.
My boy Jay-B had some million-dollar analysis during the
Maryland-Wisconsin game. In the closing seconds of regulation,
Maryland's Nick Caner-Medley (No relation to John
Cougar-Mellencamp) missed his first of two free-throws, he then walked
away from the line and Jay-B starting shouting, "no, no, no, he
shouldn't walk away from the line, he only takes himself further from
the basket." Huh?
Free-throw shooting 101 lesson for my students today: When you miss a
free throw, walk away, gather your thoughts, take a deep breath and
relax. Step back up on the line and drop the second. Of course
Caner-Medley made the second attempt.
And then "America's analyst" said that the older team (Wisconsin) has
the advantage in overtime! Huh? Are you kidding me? If any team has
the advantage it's the home team. So of course the Terps' went on to
win the game, the youngins'!
Did you see Gary Williams going nuts for his water? The team
manager passed him like three different bottles of H2o. Maryland's
Jamar Smith is a horse!
I would like to see the following guys behind the mic giving their
analysis, and not the pretty boyz or loud mouths we have today.
Nolan Richardson, Dale Brown, Rollie Massimino,
Jim Harrick, or Dean Smith. Give me guys who have been
in the trenches, not some guys who think they know it all.
OU beat Arkansas Pine-Bluff 94-24. Can't wait to hear
the five footer comment on this one.
My boy Matt Drake (CI's new hoops analyst), Joe D and
yours truly will take on any three media members in a black top
contest.
IU lost to Wake by 33, damn!
I have a funny feeling the Columbia Lions basketball squad is
going to be making some noise on 116th and Broadway, real soon.
Have you seen Florida Gator hoop star Matt Walsh's lady? She's
a former Playboy Playmate. I'm sure the NCAA is checking to see
if that is a violation.
Coppin State gave Missouri a scare. So did Oakland.
Yo Q, let's get it going man!
Paris Hilton? Nah, I'll go with Sue Bird or even soccer
star Heather Mitts.
The St. Pete P-Cocks put it on the Terriers of SFC
(Brooklyn).
Why is G-Tech rated #15 and Purdue #22?
Someone better tell Seattle Supersonic guard Ray Allen the
story of Wally Pipp and Lou Gehrig.
I picked up a Philadelphia 76ers "throw-back" jersey for my son
for Christmas; price-$300 clams, player- World B. Free #21
Does anyone really care about Rush Limbaugh and his drug
problem?
I'm a big boxing fan, but how come I have never heard of any of these
current contenders? Give me Frazier and Ali again!
I'll be at Duke-St. John's this weekend.
My advice to the Kansas Jayhawk head coach:
"B-your-"Self."
