  JUMP SHOTS

Season Tickets

By THE GRASSHOPPER

The Grasshopper is fired up that his Yankees landed Alex Rodriguez  (AP).

A-Rod, A-Rod, A- Rod?That's what we'll be chanting this coming fall in "Da Bronx!" I am going to max out one of my twelve credit cards and purchase season tickets for my beloved Yankees!

"Now batting for the Yankees, number 13, Alex Rodriguez, number 13!

Sorry Joe D., looks like you guys will finish second again.

NBA All-Star Saturday was terrible! First off, way too many performers. I'm talking pop artists here. What's with all the stage performances by some pretty bad singers? The best part of the day was the celebration in memory of Magic Johnson. Earth Wind & Fire got their thang goin' and Magic was up in the aisle dancing. Actually, I kind of liked TNT's all-access show giving the average fan a look into the Denver Nuggets.

Have you seen the show "Fashion Police" on the 'E' channel? The Rivers' ladies need to be shown the door and they need to report to their nearest unemployment department, quick.

At the NBA slam-dunk contest, Kareem Abdul-Jabber, who was one of six judges, judging the contest, gave Denver Nuggets Chris Anderson a '7' on a pretty good looking dunk. Moments later, he gave another player an '8' on a MISSED dunk. Huh?

Why all the talk about Kobe this weekend? Shaq had a party at the Playboy mansion, damn, wonder what that was like?

Speaking of dunks; don't ya think we have seen every dunk there is to be seen?

And even more on dunks; why is it that a certain sports news show always has dunks when they list their Top Ten plays of the day?

Oops, there I go again, I forgot, this is a College basketball web site.

I've got a great idea for the people at the Final Four this year in San Antonio. How about two all-star games'? Have a North-South, and an East-West. That would make for some good ballin'. And please, NO DUNK CONTESTS! You wanna know how bad the NBA dunk contest has become? The best dunker in the league doesn't participate.

Bring back the legends of the NBA!

Big win for my guy Pete Gillen at UVA beating G-Tech. C'mon Pete, let's finish strong down the stretch.

Speaking of Mr. Gillen, how about hiring him for St. John's? There's no other coach out there more "New York" then him.

Georgia may only be 12-10 this year, but they have knocked off Kentucky twice.

Yeah Justin Timberlake was a real tough guy on the stage with Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl. You know how tough he is? Just check out the show on MTV, "Punked."

Someone better give Eddie Sutton and his Cowboys a little "R-e-s-p-e-c-t."

How bad was that Exclusive Interview with the five sports celeb's with my man, former Minnesota Vikings wide-out, Ahmad Rashad? Some think Nike had a lot to do with it? No you say, just look at all the people in the living room talking? All sporting big-time contracts with the "swoosh" signature at the bottom of their checks.

And why Warren Sapp and not someone like, say, Jerry Rice?

To all college basketball fans; you need more then 25 people to storm the court after a big win.

Chris Thomas and the Quinn kid from Notre Dame have to be mentioned with Jameer and Delonte when speaking of the best backcourts in the nation.

The Hoosiers got some bad news when Sean Kline went down with an injury and will be lost of the rest of the year.

Pitt-Uconn was an old-fashioned street-brawl. The knock-em' down, drag em' out type. Where on the other hand, the North Carolina-Maryland game was a track meet. Not to say all four teams can't play either style, they could.

Speaking of heavyweight fights and track meet's, did you catch Oklahoma and Oklahoma State?

That was a big time game!

Big win for Nebraska and Barry Collier this past weekend over the Jayhawks. And coach Collier now has his own website -- CoachBarryCollier.com

And how about the Wolfpack knocking off top-ranked Duke? Herb S. sure can coach. The Pack lead the nation in free-throw shooting.

Someone tell me why the Knicks traded Keith Van Horn? FYI, Van Horn and Timmy Thomas were traded for each other once before, on draft day in 97. Wonder if that has ever happened before?

Hey Joe D., wanna play second base for New York?.
